Unlike the traditional 2.5-inch models sold to the consumer, Ruler, as its name implies, is a flash storage with the shape of a ruler. The primary focus of this device is to meet the computing needs of a corporate server and therefore that this form has been adopted, allowing the component to quickly adapt to 1U data center racks.

The company also leveraged and released traditional SSDs with Intel Optane and 3D NAND technologies working together to provide faster read and write speeds and security for data stored on the device. The devices bring more IOPS, more bandwidth, and lower latency than SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) SSDs.

Finally, the value has not yet been disclosed, let alone a date forecast for Ruler to hit the market. But if everything goes as Intel expects, this device will soon be available for enterprise data centers and servers. SSDs with Octane technology arrive later this year for selected customers.
